“WANG (望),” meaning “hope,” is a word pregnant with longing. In medical school, Tam suffered from depression and anorexia. Yet, her God-given visions to fulfill her dream of pursuing a Masters of Public Health at world-renowned Johns Hopkins University and to speak in front of international audiences about her resilience encouraged her. Her unfailing hope through years of suffering ultimately ushered in breakthrough and fulfillment of those seemingly far-fetched dreams.

While the upper portion of the character leans heavenward, the thick, heavy brushstrokes below in “王,” meaning “king,” reflects how our hope is ultimately anchored by our heavenly King. Would you hold onto God’s dreams for your life, even if you can’t see the outcome?
