新 (Xin) | New
“XIN (新),” meaning “new,” is the first of this calligraphy series of works inspired by the redemptive power of God to revive old dreams and restore the broken parts of our lives (Isaiah 43:18–19). While a new year may bring painful memories of lost hopes, the artist challenges us not to dwell on the past but to look toward our new season ahead.
With bold brushstrokes and an unusually curved last line that is usually written straight, Tam evokes a sense of dynamism that reflects the courage and confidence we need to take a step forward in faith.
“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?” (Isaiah 43:18–19)
